Peaceful Homes, Peaceful Lives

We believe that change and peace begin within your Self, at home. When we make our homes sanctuaries that are sources of healing, joy, and inspiration, we then carry that energy with us out into the world and into everything we do including working, raising our children, serving our communities, etc… One of our teachers, Denise Linn, says, “one person can make a difference. Instilling an oasis of peace into your home, in a small corner of the Universe can make all the difference in the world.”

Where in your home can you make one small change to bring more peace to your surroundings?

In addition to paying attention to our homes and “outer” surroundings, we need to pay attention to our “inner environment.” Home is not just a place—it is a state of being. When we say we feel at home, we are not always talking about a location, but more often a place within ourselves where we feel connected, peaceful, and present. We often feel most at home and at peace when both our inner- and outer-worlds are aligned—meaning our homes are an outer reflection of how we feel inside or in some cases, how we want to feel. We can cultivate our inner home by tuning into this feeling of peace with simple practices such as meditation, gratitude, and mindfulness…

What small habit can you adopt today to bring more peace into your being?

The world can be healed, reshaped, and balanced as our homes and selves come into balance. On that note, we want to share an old Chinese proverb:

When there is light in the soul,
There is beauty in the person;
When there is beauty in the person,
There is harmony in the home;
When there is harmony in the home,
There is honor in the nation;
When there is honor in the nation,
There is peace in the world.
